God Saved Me For A Purpose - Phil Keaggy Pt. 1

There’s a story that’s been passed around that dates back to the late 60s or early 70s where a guitar legend like Jimmy Hendrix is asked what it’s like to be the best guitar player in the world. Hendrix (or any number of other guitar titans of the era) is reported to have quipped, “I don’t know. You should ask Phil Keaggy.”

That’s the mantle Keaggy carried as his band Glass Harp gained the respect of the bands they opened for in countless gigs. That is, until Keaggy put down the electric guitar for a time and took up the acoustic guitar shortly after answering the call to follow Jesus.

This week is the first of a two-part interview, and in this installment, Keaggy walks Mike through his fascinating career gently and unpretentiously dropping some pretty big names along the way.
